2023-05-31

Vilnius City District Court continues its international cooperation with colleagues from other countries.

At the invitation of the President of the Court Viktorija Šelmienė, a delegation of Estonian judges arrived in Vilnius on 29 May 2023.

As part of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) Bilateral Exchanges 2023 project, the Vilnius City District Court has established close relations with the Tallinn Harju District Court.

Judges Katre Poljakova and Margit Roots-Dervichi, Criminal Judges, Marget Henriksen, Civil Judge, and Liis Landsmann, Assistant Judge, spent the first two days of their stay in the largest court in Lithuania.

After a meeting with the Court's management and a tour of the Court's premises, the Tallinn judges got acquainted with the work of the Vilnius City District Court's departments and watched a number of court sessions.

On Wednesday, the guests' weekly agenda includes a trip to Kaunas, where they will meet with the staff of the Kaunas Prosecutor's Office and the Kaunas District Court, and the rich programme will be rounded off by visits to the Vilnius Regional Administrative Court and the Lithuanian Court of Appeal.

A return visit of Vilnius City District Court judges to Tallinn Harju District Court is already foreseen at the end of September 2023 under this Bilateral Exchange Programme.

Established in 2000, the EJTN represents the interests of more than 160,000 European judges, prosecutors and legal professionals. The main objectives of the EJTN are to develop training standards and programmes, and to coordinate and promote cooperation between national training institutions in the European Union.
